This library guide discusses the difference between statistics and data and provides valuable campus resources for data assistance. Most importantly, this guide provides a list of resources for finding data for the world, data for the United States, and data for Illinois. These resources include free online websites and downloadable data in addition to subscription-based University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign databases. |
| From Analytics to Cognition: Taking Genomic Science to the Bedside Data Center for Computational Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine (CCBGM) The goal of this project is to generate actionable intelligence using smart analytics to integrate big-data in the form of omics (genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics etc.), clinical data and longitudinal data from electronic health records (EHR). The actionable intelligence is a descriptive piece of information with high-confidence and accuracy that can be used to tailor and individualize diagnosis and therapeutics for a given patient or inform potential candidates for biomarker discovery. The analytics and tools will be developed using engineering expertise at the Univ. of Illinois in close collaboration and partnership with leading clinicians, biologists and bioinformatics specialists at Mayo Clinic. This project will explore societally relevant, prevalent and yet less-understood diseases such as triple-negative breast cancer, major depressive disorder and diabetes. |

| Three-Dimensional (3-D) Geologic Modeling Data Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) The need for improved geologic information is ever increasing as environmental and land-use issues continue to grow, with particular relevance to water resources. In northeast Illinois, bedrock aquifers are under regional stress and Lake Michigan sources are nearly fully allocated. Thus, McHenry County has responded with proactive water-resources planning. In cooperation with the County, the ISGS is in the final stages of completing a county-wide 3-D geologic model of the glacial deposits, which include the shallow sand and gravel aquifers. |

| XSEDE: Allocations Awards for the NSF Cyberinfrastructure Portfolio, 2004-2019 Data The XSEDE program manages the database of allocation awards for the portfolio of advanced research computing resources funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The database holds data for allocation awards dating to the start of the TeraGrid program in 2004 to present, with awards continuing through the end of the second XSEDE award in 2021. The project data include lead researcher and affiliation, title and abstract, field of science, and the start and end dates. Along with the project information, the data set includes resource allocation and usage data for each award associated with the project. The data show the transition of resources over a fifteen year span along with the evolution of researchers, fields of science, and institutional representation.
