Community Needs
The best way to understand research software is to understand the needs that motivated it. The Research Software Portal documents research needs as user stories and use cases, concepts from the Agile development process. Each user story describes something a researcher, educator, student, or research computing specialist needs to do. Use cases expand on user stories by describing how they appear in current systems and software. In the Portal, you’ll find descriptions of user stories and use cases, activities aimed at enabling use cases, and software delivered by those activities. We offer comment and rating features so you can help us understand the context for each user story. And of course, you can describe user stories that aren’t already listed here.
