Data Sharing and Distributed Storage’s Role in Research Event Research IT Cyberinfrastructure or eInfrastructures tended to be funded for small projects for a single PI or very large science ventures (CERN LHC, NEON, NASA). What is emerging are medium-scale projects involving several universities and institutions. What architectures and capabilities are or will be needed by such projects and what effect will this have on the overall research computing ecosystem? |
Getting Started on High Performance Computing Training Research IT The Illinois Campus Cluster Program (ICCP), a high performance computing (HPC) cluster available to investors at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, now offers a free, all-online training where users learn how to get started. |
Communicating with Researchers - Research Support Community Event Research IT Join us for a conversation together about how to communicate with researchers! Sign up for the community at https://researchit.illinois.edu/about/research-support-community or email ahovious@illinois.edu to get the Zoom information. |
Software Carpentry Workshops (R+SQL) Event Research IT We will teach each day from 4–6 p.m. Central Time. Registration is open to all current University of Illinois graduate students, postdocs, staff, and other researchers. This will be especially useful to graduate students, postdocs, and researchers who have not begun to leverage the power of scripting and version control for reproducible research. We especially encourage members of a course or research group to sign up together to reinforce good habits. |
AWS Education Research IT Seminar Series- Serverless Applications in Python Event Research IT Join this seminar to learn about the concept of serverless programming with Amazon Web Services (AWS) through examples in Python. You will discover the range of serverless implementations on AWS, including containers, AWS Lambda functions, and fully managed services. Hear about application development, security, frameworks and libraries, and the deployment of applications in an AWS environment. Examples will illustrate how you can use the power of advanced AWS services, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, in your Python applications. |
Identifying and Executing Work Appropriate for the Open Science Grid - March 19, 2020 Event Research IT Could your computational work benefit from the ability to concurrently run hundreds or thousands of independent computations, for free? The Open Science Grid (OSG) facilitates distributed high-throughput computing (dHTC) via a partnership of national labs, universities, and other organizations who contribute and share computing capacity for use by researchers across and beyond the United States. Individual researchers, institutions, or multi-institutional collaborations can access OSG via local submission points or through the OSG Connect service (freely available to U.S. academic, government, and non-profit researchers). |
